Emerging Young Leaders and Ivy League Leadership Program
The Emerging Young Leaders is the 2010-2014 signature program of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. for girls in grades 6-8. Consisting of four AKAdemies, the program is designed to extend the vision of the sorority by cultivating and encouraging high scholastic achievement through:
1. Leadership Development
2. Educational Enrichment
3. Civic Engagement
4. Character Building
Sigma Omega Chapter partners with Omicron (UC), Lambda Mu (Miami), and Rho Psi (Xavier) undergraduate chapters to execute EYL within the Cincinnati area for the 17 young ladies currently in the program.
The Ivy League Leadership Program is a signature program of Sigma Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. for girls in grades 9-12. It is designed to develop the social, academic, and leadership skills of young ladies by providing a safe environment where the participants feel nurtured, loved, and inspired to grow. Monthly activities include a focus on Environmental Sustainability, African- American History, and Public Speaking. ILLP participants serve as junior mentors for EYL participants. There are currently 18 young ladies in ILLP. Participants are selected based on application & essay or upon successful completion of the Emerging Young Leaders.
EYL & ILLP typically meet on 4th Saturdays from 10AM – 2PM unless a holiday falls on that day. The programs run from
